Green Building & Decarbonization
Accelerating sustainable development and climate resilience in the built environment through:
Urban Resilience & Adaptation
Support in developing adaptation and resilience strategies that position buildings within broader urban systems, with focus on durability, flexibility, infrastructure interdependencies, community vulnerabilities, and long term climate risk.
Decarbonization & Carbon Analysis
Whole building LCA and embodied carbon analysis that informs early design decisions, material strategies, and reporting aligned with LEED v5, CALGreen, and emerging policy requirements.
Operational and embodied carbon reduction roadmaps for buildings and portfolios, reducing energy costs, meeting climate commitments, and building resilience to future regulatory and climate risk.
Green Building Compliance & Technical Support
Guidance on applying LEED, CALGreen, and Title 24 (CA) requirements in ways that support compliance, resilience, and climate adaptation goals.
Climate Resilience & Planning
Striving for ambitious outcomes in equity, resilience, and climate protection through:
Climate Risk Assessment & Analysis
Strategy focused evaluation of climate related hazards and vulnerabilities across building, portfolio, and community scales, addressing risks such as heat, flooding, and extreme weather to guide resilience and climate planning decisions.
Climate Action Planning & Evaluation
Contribution to climate action plans and risk informed strategies, integrating mitigation and adaptation goals, prioritizing actions, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation of progress over time.
Greenhouse gas emission inventory and climate trend analysis to support climate resilience and adaptation planning goals and objectives.
Climate Risk, Adaptation & Program Review
Independent review of climate action plans, adaptation strategies, and resilience programs to assess alignment with hazard risks, priorities, and readiness for implementation.
Project Highlights
Diverse experience and project contributions with leading Green Building Consulting, Engineering, and Program Management firms
Confidential Mixed Use Development/ Zero Carbon Community
Assisted the energy team of a Net Zero Carbon multifamily mixed-use affordable community development project to complete embodied carbon analysis by performing whole building life cycle assessments, building construction embodied carbon analysis, estimated MEP and PV system embodied carbon, and transportation associated carbon emissions to achieve required Net Zero Carbon goals.
Sequoia Union High School District, San Mateo County, CA
Guided design team through California Title 24 regulation updates, coordinated minimum requirements with project design and specifications, and provided compliance documentation for multiple buildings at seven school district campuses.
Duke Warehouse, Fremont, CA
Conducted LEED review for a warehouse project targeting LEED Silver certification. Evaluated MEP drawings and submittals, performed required calculations, and provided responses to LEED reviewer comments to ensure compliance and certification success.
Ladd School Redevelopment, Kansas City, MO*
A redevelopment project transforming an existing school into a regenerative and resilient community hub, incorporating new multi-family housing in a historically disadvantaged and disinvested neighborhood. Conducted a property-level climate risk assessment to evaluate extreme weather hazards and performed whole-building life cycle analysis for various design scenarios to assess carbon impacts and climate risks. Provided data-driven insights to support informed design decisions and funding opportunities while advancing ambitious goals for LEED, WELL, Net Zero Energy, Carbon Reduction, Climate Resilience, and Environmental Justice.
City of St. Louis Climate Services/ Climate Action Plan *
Collaborated with multiple stakeholders and the City of St. Louis to update the city’s Climate Action Plan, GHG inventory, and supporting documentation as part of a new Sustainability Plan. Conducted research and analysis of existing plans, identified gaps, and helped establish sustainability goals. Supported the project team in GHG inventory efforts by reviewing data, forecasts, and trends, while contributing to summary documentation and methodology reports .
Kansas City Current Stadium, Kansas City, MO*
A new stadium and supporting facilities for Kansas City Women’s soccer team. Conducted whole building life cycle assessment and whole building water use calculations that contributed to the project achieving LEED Gold certification.
San Antonio Zoo New Gorilla Exhibit & Event/Staff Support, San Antonio, TX*
A new Gorilla Exhibit building, Event Building and Staff Support facilities targeting LEED Silver certification under a group approach. Performed the whole building life cycle assessment to help identify the most contributing materials to the building embodied carbon and earn additional credit towards certification.
Staco Electrical Climate Services/ ESG Reporting *
Assists local electrical contractor with the supply chain GHG emissions reporting request from major client. Verify and recalculate Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions following GHG Protocol standards, complete required CDP questionnaire based on SME guidance and set science-based target for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for SMEs.
CCC Greenwood Expansion **
Interdisciplinary project management, coordination and collaborative design of a complex, multi-million-dollar California Conservation Corps site renovation and expansion in Greenwood, CA. Project includes many energy efficient features, including VRF systems, energy-recovery units, hot water heat pumps, PVs, recycled water wash systems and more. Project is registered to achieve LEED Gold certification and Zero Net Energy goals.
San Jose Fire Training Center and EOC **
Mechanical design of the fire training facilities to incorporate specific LEED Gold, Zero Net Energy and Zero Net Carbon as well as City of San Jose 2019 Reach Code requirements. The project includes a new 2-story fire training building, 6-story fire training tower, and a new Emergency Operations Center/Admin building.
Mission College MTR **
HVAC design, calculations and documentation required to meet LEED Gold standard for a new two story Business Tech building that replaces MT portable classrooms at Mission College campus. Project includes classrooms, instructional labs, and faculty offices. Building showcases a number of sustainable systems including natural ventilation, radiant heating, solar hot water heating, municipal reclaimed water use, and controlled LED lighting throughout.
